Why Texas? FAQ

  • The two farthest flights in North America were made in Texas by Sebastien Kayrouz. Including his world record of 613 km. Check it out here: https://www.xcontest.org/2021/world/en/flights/detail:sebastien300/19.06.2021/14:49

  • We love the Sertao, it offers some of the world’s best flying. Unfortunately, it’s near the equator, so days don’t get to be much longer than 12 hours. Also, we’re hoping to find a place with a steeper wind gradient (higher winds up high, manageable winds near the terrain).

  • A unique meteorological condition, (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_line)! When hot and moist air from the Gulf meets cold dry air coming from across the Rockies in just the right way, records have been flown. Also, many storms and tornados have issued from this explosive mixture.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_line
